Easter Time, for those who believe in Jesus is a very special time; a time for meditation and renewal. I was lucky enough in my life to visit the Holy Land three times. The visit has touched me deeply, as the Land still holds a magical feeling, amidst all the problems, of the glorious past of Prophets and Patriarchs who walked on that Holy Land. Holy for the Christians, the Jews, the Muslims.

There will be a day, I believe, when all religions will focus more on Spirituality than on their own self proclamation. We are all children of the same Universe and religion should not be a matter of fight but a bond of union among men.

Till that day will come I will keep following the religious leader who sponsor this philosophy, not by their words, but by their actions, like Pope Francesco is doing with His wonderful, humble, simple ways that have captured the attention of many around the world, as with the Spirit of Saint Francis, is teaching us that Jesus’s teachings can be actual today more than ever, where solitude and emargination abound as real plagues of our times, where we die by obesity in the Western world while people die of starvation in the Third world and the simple need for water is not met by more than one billion people around the planet.

I will keep following the teaching of HH the +Dalai Lama  who wrote yesterday in a +Google+
post:

Dalai Lama

Mar 26, 2013  -  Public

Whether we consider the individual, family, local, national or international level, peace must arise from inner peace. For example, making prayers for peace while continuing to harbor anger is futile. Training the mind and overcoming your anger is much more effective than mere prayer. Anger, hatred and jealousy never solve problems, only affection, concern and respect can do that.”
I will keep following the ways of the Great People of America, the Native American People represented well also on +Google+  by +Native American Encyclopedia   ” If it is sacred it must be free” said a Chief one day. I love this quote, as much as I love their ways of perceiving the Universe as ONE single, as ” we are all related” “Aho Mitakuye Oyasin….All my relations. I honor you in this circle of life with me today. I am grateful for this opportunity to acknowledge you in this prayer….
To the Creator, for the ultimate gift of life, I thank you.
To the mineral nation that has built and maintained my bones and all foundations of life experience, I thank you.
To the plant nation that sustains my organs and body and gives me healing herbs for sickness, I thank you.
To the animal nation that feeds me from your own flesh and offers your loyal companionship in this walk of life, I thank you.
To the human nation that shares my path as a soul upon the sacred wheel of Earthly life, I thank you.
To the Spirit nation that guides me invisibly through the ups and downs of life and for carrying the torch of light through the Ages, I thank you.
To the Four Winds of Change and Growth, I thank you.
You are all my relations, my relatives, without whom I would not live. We are in the circle of life together, co-existing, co-dependent, co-creating our destiny. One, not more important than the other. One nation evolving from the other and yet each dependent upon the one above and the one below. All of us a part of the Great Mystery.
Thank you for this Life”
Till the day whe all religion and faith will join for the good of Mankind I will remain a Christian, not because of the many mistakes the Church has made in the past centuries and the recent scandals including Vatican Leaks and pedophile scandals, along with monetary scandals connected with the biggest bank of the world, the IOR, Vatican owned bank, but I will remain a Christian for all those man and women who died in the name of Jesus, trying to spread HIs word like Saint Francis of Assisi, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Saint Anthony of Padua, Padre Pio da Petrelcina, Padre Leopoldo Mandich, San Giovanni Bosco, Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesu’, and many others who really believed in the poverty message of the Word of Jesus that answered to one of His disciples who was asking Him ” When did we see you?”
“Anytime you did something to the small, the suffering, the poor, I was there”

I will remain a Christian for the love to my Ancestors who believed and transmitted the Faith down the line from my Great Great Great Father to my dad, who spent his last years helping the homeless, the poor and the last ones, although he considered himself a sinner, he tried to wash his faults away by helping everyone he ran across during his last twenty years of life.

I will keep my heart open to all the religions of the world, trying to see the best that they have to teach and give, putting aside the faults they have just like any other religion. No one has the WHOLE Thruth, but all of them have SOME.

One last hope. I hope that all religions of the world could join forces into stopping all the wars that are ripping our world apart. Life is not easy as it is, it shouldn’t be made harder by war and everyone should have the right to live a peaceful life with their families and children.

New Pope O’Malley Cardinal with “what it takes” (a plea to the Holy Spirit)

(by pio dal cin) Saturday March 9th 2013 7:00 Rome Time.
With the Conclave Extra Hommnes  from the Latin word ”cum clavem” (with key) that comes from what happened in 1270 when the people of Viterbo locked the cardinals in the City’s Palace until they reached the election of Gregory X

The process to elect the new Head of the Catholic Church will begin on Tuesday March 12th.
As I stated in a previous post( A fool’s prediction),  trying to make a prediction is like to be able to guess the lottery numbers. Anyone can be right or wrong.

I was brought up a Christian Catholic in a very strict way. My name comes from Padre Pio da Petrelcina whom my dad met many times when he was a “small friar” battered by the Church and confined without the permission to Celebrate the Mass as he was becoming popular among the crowds for His “miracles”.

(Mons. Albino Luciani-Pope John Paul the I with my father) I met two Popes personally in my life: Pope John Paul

the I and Pope John Paul the II. (foto copyright pio dal cin 2013)

During my travelling around the World, as a photojournalist I came in touch and I studied
Islam, Ebraism, Buddhism and the Religion of the Native Americans, out of my curiosity of understanding where, if there is one, lies the Truth.

I must admit that I wasn’t thrilled about Pope Benedict VXI; not much for His great personality and profound culture, but for the fact that he “sported” those huge golden crosses on His neck and the “fisherman ring” was big enough to buy a couple of apartments.

I kept repeating to myself that “This cannot be Sacred..” Isn’t the Church supposed to support the poverty as one of the three wows?”

Native Americans have a saying “If it is Sacred it must be Free..” I like this. But how many controversial, not free items are there in the Catholic Church today? Why is the Legacy of Saint Peter obliterated by scandals of the Vatican’s funds of million of Euros?

I learned that the IOR (the Vatican Bank)is the most powerful bank in the whole world.

This should change, in my humble opininion. Saint Francis of Assisi was called by Jesus
to “Repair the Church”“Vai Francesco, ripara la mia Chiesa” and was cited here by Benedict VXI.

Times are very hard and the sex scandals, Vatican Leaks and not so transparent transactions of the Church are “rocking the Boat” like never before.

Given my statement that “You have to be a Fool to make a prediction of choosing a Pope”, I will have another approach and “write a letter of plead to the Holy Spirit“, asking to pick the only one I saw that fits the description of Saint Francis of Assisi: Cardinal Sean O’Malley (read His blog)

LETTER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT: I will start with this Song to the Holy Spirit, that is sung by the Cardinals upon entering the Conclave, to ask for Divine Inspiration.

Dear Holy Spirit,

I am just a grain of sand in the Universe. I understand nothing about the Laws and the Forces that balance the Great Space.

Many Humans call upon Your Force and Greatness. Some call You Great Spirit, other call You Holy Spirit, other do not even believe in You.

During these days the Catholic Church is called to elect the Captain of the Ship.

It is been very hard for me in these past years to believe that Your Holy Presence is among those walls, given all the scandals that we heard about.

It is very hard to boftenelieve that the Spirit of Jesus and of Saint Peter, and Saint Francis of Assisi is behind the gold and richness ofnen shown by those who are called to be Your servants, while there are million of people who suffer in the World.

So here is my humble plea: If You are really among those walls, Shed  a Great LIght upon those who are called to elect the new Pope so that His ways will be as Jesus requested of
simplicity and trasparency. a real Sheperd that can show the World that Jesus is still among us human beings in the way HE  taught us.

My pick is Sean O’ Malley

(I know that You don’t need suggestions but at least I casted my vote)

The new Pope? Who will He be? A fool’s prediction(mine)

(by pio dal cin) March 6th 2013 11:00 pm (GMT+1)
As I red the “Washington Post” article about the”AmericanCardinals” involved in the election of the new Pope, my attention was attracted by these few lines:
Di Nardo and O’Malley drew laughs when one reporter asked O’Malley, a member of the Capuchin order, if he would continue to wear his trademark brown robes if elected pope.

“I’ve worn this uniform for over 40 years and I presume I will wear it until I die,” he said. “I don’t expect to be elected pope, so I don’t expect to have to change.”
t
This was the second time I heard this today: first time on the Italian National Radio. The words “Capucine” attracted my attention, as I did not know that there was an American Cardinal who wears the “saio” (the Capucine uniform) for forty years.

Whomever tries to make a prediction about who is going to be the next Pope is a fool, as there are two ways of looking at this event that is monopolizing the attention of over Five thousand accredited journalists from all over the world:

A): The Vatican is a Earthly Power made by people like you and I, owners of the most powerful bank in the world (the IOR). As any other power on this earth the election will deliver the new Pontiff as the Head of a State (The Vatican)and any name among the 115 cardinals could be the one to take St.Peter’s Legacy.

B): As seen from a Christian Catholic point of view the “Conclave” is fueled by the Holy Spirit, therefore the Chosen will be absolutely without any possibility of mistake the “Right One”.

After this any prediction is impossible. There are no ways. Probably guessing the Lotto numbers will be a lot easier.

A FOOL PREDICTION

My name is Pio. My father Narciso named me after a Capucine Saint he had the priviledge of knowing when He was an unknown Capucine Friar healing people and making “miracles.
The Church confined him without the permission to celebrate the Holy Mass, for ten long years, on the ground that He, Himself was considered “strange”. He is now a Saint; Saint Pio or better known as “Padre Pio da Petrelcina”.

I grew up in a very Christian Catholic environment and my life was filled with its simbols from my childhood. I had the opportunity of meeting two Popes in my life: the first one was John Paul the First, Albino Luciani. More than once, as He was the Bishop of Vittorio Veneto, where I grew up, and then, during a private visit of my family to the Partiarcat of Venice, where He spent his last years before becoming Pope John Paul I.

The second Pope I met was Pope John Paul II for three times as I followed him as a young photojournalist during His vacation on the Dolomites‘ town of Lorenzago.
Does this make me an expert on Popes?
Absolutely not, just another fool trying to make a prediction.

HARD TIMES FOR THE CHURCH

Times are hard for the Catholic Church, battling amid sex scandals and the “Vatican Leaks” files.
The need is for a strong Pope, one Captain that can take the helm of the Ship and go trough one of  Church’s worst hurricanes in history.

It is time for a Pope with the “saio” who can bring the Church back to the times of Saint Francis of Assisi, the poor friar who made a great revolution in the Church with His humble, poor ways.
Without a Pope that can rid the Vatican from all the “evils” represented by richness, golden crosses, money trades that cannot be tracked for million of Euros and all the sex scandals that have come up in the last few years, more than a Ship, it will look like the Titanic, headed for a Iceberg.

As a Fool prediction I will pick Cardinal O’Malley, hoping that if He gets elected He will keep wearing the “saio” for the next forty years, but this time as a Pope, making the “B” option above more credible.

Peer Steinbrueck? Ma Vaffanculo!!

Peer Steinbrueck?

To all corrupted politicians in Italy. On your last day, you’ll regret your behaviour

(by pio dal cin) To all the corrupted politicians out there. Listen to the voices of the People of Italy crying for some relief. Before you are a politician you are (or at least should be) a MAN.

Next time you hoover over a City with your helicopter on the way to make a multimillion euro deal, think of the person in despair because he just lost his job, or because the enterprise he started with great sacrifices is about to collapse, maybe for a bill, or a law that you voted.

Think of a mother trying to feed the children with less than a thousand euros a month, while you are getting a message on your Iphone telling you that your 90thousand euro pension has been deposited in your bank account.

Think of a young couple who will not be able to start a family because the Bank just denied them a mortgage as they only have one paycheck a month and it won’t be enough.

Think of all the money you stole, and you are stealing from the poor people. One day you are going to die too. You will die rich and perhaps you’ll regret on your death bed not having being able to be honest and it will be the moment you’ll meet your Creator, it will be the saddest moment of your life.

Honesty
To achieve honesty within yourself,
To recognize who and what you are ,
Do this and you can be honest with all others

Humility
Humble yourself and recognize that
No matter how much you think you know,
You know very little of all the universe.

Truth
To learn truth,
To live with truth, and
To walk with truth,
To speak truth

Wisdom
To have wisdom is to know the difference between good and bad, and
To know the result of your actions

Love
Unconditional love to know that when people are weak
They need your love the most,
That your love is given freely, and
You cannot put conditions on it
Or your love is not true

Respect
Respect others, their beliefs, and
Respect yourself.
If you cannot show respect,
You cannot expect respect to be given

Bravery
To be brave is to do something right,
Even if you know it’s going to hurt you.

Grillo e l’Italia.

Avrebbe fatto meglio a stare nelle retrovie in silenzio o quasi come stanno facendo:

GRILLO.

(pio dal cin. all right reserved °copyright 2013)

Larry Page from Google just wrote on a G+ post

“I loved meeting Charles Chase from Lockheed Skunk Works because he wants to change the world and he has a plan.  His dream is about building a compact fusion reactor (that would fit it on the back of a truck) which is capable of generating 100MW of electricity – enough to power a small city.  Charles thinks he could have a prototype in 5 years and a fully engineered plant in 10 years.  This would be capable of meeting all electricity demands globally by 2050.  All with virtually zero emissions.  An exciting example of how 10X thinking could make the world a better place. “

A project to provide in the next five to ten years the whole world with free electricity.  Wonderful!!!

Last month, President Obama began his second Inaugural Address by saying, “Each time we gather to inaugurate a President we bear witness to the enduring strength of our Constitution.” President Obama’s words resonate as the anniversary of George Washington’s birthday approaches on February 22, popularly known as Presidents’ Day.

Over two centuries ago, on April 30, 1789, George Washington delivered his first Inaugural Address knowing that he had little to guide him in the job that lay ahead but the principles stated in the Constitution. The Articles of the Constitution had been debated, discussed, and agreed upon just two summers earlier by the delegates of the Constitution Convention, and were still untested. Nevertheless, Washington was a strong supporter of the Constitution and would look to it for guidance in his unprecedented role as President.

During Washington’s first year in office, Congress ordered 600 copies of the Acts of Congress to be printed and distributed to federal and state government officials. The book compiled the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other legislation passed by the first session of Congress.

George Washington’s personal copy of the Acts of Congress contains his own handwritten notes in the margins. The notes provide insight into his crucial role in the implementation and interpretation of the Constitution and the establishment of the new American government.

Washington rarely wrote on the pages of his books, and the presence of his distinct handwriting makes the historic volume even more remarkable. Customarily, Washington preferred to take notes on a separate sheet of paper, which he would insert into a book. But in his copy of the Acts of Congress, he not only wrote directly in the margins but also drew brackets next to the passages of particular interest to him.

Only three copies of this book are known to have survived: Washington’s copy and the copies belonging to Thomas Jefferson and John Jay. After his two terms in office, Washington brought the book home to Mount Vernon. It stayed in the Washington family until 1876 and then passed through a series of collectors.

Last year, the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association secured the book at an auction, bringing it back to George Washington’s home. It is now on display at Mount Vernon in Virginia through Presidents’ Day.  Beginning in March, Washington’s Acts of Congress will travel the country and visit the 13 Presidential Libraries of the National Archives through a partnership with Mount Vernon.

In George Washington’s first Inaugural Address he referred to the new government as an “experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.” Fifty-six Presidential inaugurations later, President Barack Obama spoke of the Constitution as an enduring framework for our government. The opportunity to see Washington’s Acts of Congress, complete with his carefully penciled notes, provides a rare glimpse into history that is as relevant today as it was 224 years ago.

The nationwide tour of the Acts of Congress is also an opportunity to reflect on the presidency and to wonder what it would feel like to take on the role of Commander in Chief. We’ve put together a gallery of inaugural moments that feature holdings from the 13 Presidential Libraries.

And while there are no photos of America’s first Presidential inauguration, we’ve included pages from George Washington’s first Inaugural Address from the holdings of the National Archives, as well as Washington’s historic copy of the Acts of Congress, courtesy of the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association.

Happy Presidents’ Day!

The New York Times is selling the Boston Globe

The New York Times Company announced Wednesday that it is selling the Boston Globe.

Bloomberg was the first to report the news that the company is seeking to unload its biggest asset besides the New York Times itself. The Times issued a press release shortly after, saying that it has partnered with Evercore Partners to find a suitable buyer for the Globe and the other properties in its New England Media Group.

“Given the differences between these businesses and The New York Times, we believe that a sale is in the best long-term interests of these properties and the employees who work for them as well as in the best interests of our shareholders,” Times CEO Mark Thompson said in a statement.

The Times bought the Globe for $1.1 billion in 1993 — a sign of just how different the media landscape was two decades ago. The entire company now has $955 million in cash on hand. It will certainly not be able to attract that kind of price for the paper today; a Wall Street Journal piece in early 2012 speculated that the Globe could be had for about $200 million.

The company has spent the last year or so shedding many of its other business. It sold its regional papers in late 2011, and the About.com site in 2012. In addition, it has recently enacted layoffs at the Times.

The Times had previously flirted with selling the Globe in 2009, but ultimately decided against it. The Globe, the Times said, was on track to lose $85 million that year.

+Google+  hosted the third Hangout with President +Barack Obama  from the +The White House . Here are the exclusive Screenshots of the event that just ended a couple of minutes ago.

The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly although very important issues were adressed to the President regarding the economy, jobs, the gun control issue and other topics.

On the second part  the participants asked a few lighter questions like the lady from Hawaii who asked the President +Barack Obama how living there affected his life, or the couple expecting a child about which name the president would pick for her…

A great hangout to watch and the great feeling of knowing that this way of communicating has become a familiar way for us as well as for the President of the United States of America.
Personally I would like to thank +Sarah Hill  who believed in Hangouts “When Hangouts weren’t cool* and gave me the great opportunity to participate as a guest to her first LIVE Hangout from a broadcast bach in Sept 12 2011.

President +Barack Obama  Hangs out on +Google+  for his second time.
The White House originally shared this post:
Today at 4:50 p.m. ET: President Obama joins a #FiresideHangoutlive from the White House. Learn more and watch live:http://wh.gov/d5zH #SOTU

On Thursday, February 14th at 4:50 p.m. EST, President Obama will sit down with Americans from all across the country for a “Fireside Hangout” – our 21st century take on Franklin D. Roosevelt’s fireside chats. The President will join a live, completely virtual interview from nowhere other than the Roosevelt Room in the White House’s West Wing.

This online event comes just days after the State of the Union address, where the President laid out his plan to create jobs and strengthen the middle class. During the hangout, which is hosted and moderated by Google, the President will connect with people who are active online to discuss the policies and proposals in the speech.

Do you have a question that you’d like President Obama to answer? Right now, you cansubmit a text or video question for the President, and also vote on your favorites. Then, be sure to tune in for the hangout live on Thursday, February 14th at 4:50 p.m. EST. Watch it live on the White House YouTube ChannelGoogle+ page and at WhiteHouse.gov/live.

Thursday’s event with the President is the latest in a series of Fireside Hangouts and White House engagement programs on Google+. Last month, Vice President Biden kicked off the series with a virtual conversation about reducing gun violence. And after President Obama presented his plan to fix our broken immigration system, Cecilia Muñoz, Director of the Domestic Policy Council, joined a Fireside Hangout on the issue.

The White House uses Google+, and other social media networks and online tools, to directly connect President Obama and his Administration directly with the American people. Since our inaugural White House hangout with President Obama after the State of the Union in January 2012, the White House has hosted hangouts about everything fromhealthy families to small business and mortgage refinancing to human trafficking.

More than 1.4 million people have followed the White House since we joined Google+ a little over a year ago — and we’ve invited those followers to join hangouts with senior staff and Cabinet members and come to the White House for special events, like our State of the Union Social and a Google+ photowalkFollow us on Google+ to stay connected to the White House and get the latest updates on how you can engage. You can also check out the White House on TwitterFacebook and Pinterest. Learn more about all the ways you can engage with the White House at WhiteHouse.gov/engage.

Hangout on air on G+ with Samantha Cristoforetti

Hangout with Samantha Cristoforetti (by pio dal cin) I am so excited and proud to announce to have had clearance for an exclusive interview with +Samantha Cristoforetti . I will interview her exclusively on my humble show on +Google+   called +You Are The Star (for FIVE minutes)

The show was meant to bring “Gplussers”to the open in front of a camera and have a nice peaceful conversation about themselves and their experience both in life and on +Google+  as it was first launched almost two years ago.

First Italian woman astronaut, Samantha Cristoforetti does not like celebrity. She easily escaped the spotlight from the media to resume her training.
A marathon that will end on 2014 when she will be launched into space to join the ISS (International Space Station) where she will spend a record six months studying Mother Earth and performing various  experiments

The main training takes place in Houston Texas at the +NASA . Samantha has a great curriculum:
35 years old,  Aeronautic’s captain and over five hundred hours on military airplanes.

She was picked  among thousands of candidates in 2009 by the European Space Agency ESA along with five other astronauts among whom captain Luca Palermitano.

She is training very hard. As the leading engineer on board, she has to know the ISS inside out.

Her dream as a child was to become an astronaut, now that she has finally fullfilled her dream she is ready for the greatest challange of her life.

So, if you are ready to listen to her and what she has to tell about herself and her mission tune in on February 15th at  5 pm (Rome Time) on +YouTube . You’ll be able to see her LIVE and post your questions to her.

Amy Winehouse’s funeral will take place on Tuesday attended by just family and friends, a spokesman for her family has said.

A post-mortem examination into her death took place on Monday.

No cause of death has been given, while an inquest was opened and adjourned until 26 October. Results of further toxicology tests could take four weeks.

The 27-year-old singer’s body was found on Saturday at her home in Camden, north London.

The spokesman would not reveal any details about the location or time of the funeral.

On Monday, her father Mitch Winehouse thanked fans for their tributes, saying: “I can’t tell you what this means to us. It really is making this a lot easier.”

Visiting his daughter’s home, he added the loss left him “speechless”.

The singer’s mother and brother also visited the site to see the flowers, cards and photos fans laid in tribute.

A family spokesman had earlier said the funeral would be held as soon as possible, with coroners issuing interim death certificates allowing arrangements to be made.

Traditionally, Jewish funerals take place as quickly as possible following a death.

The Brit and Grammy award-winner had struggled with drink and drug addiction for many years and had recently spent time in rehab.

But police have declined to say whether her death was drug-related.

The singer, who topped the charts with her album Back To Black, was found dead by a member of her security team.

The album re-entered the charts on Sunday almost five years after it was released. The record, produced by Mark Ronson, climbed to number 59.
